First Blog (in a while)

Hi, I am writing this while watching The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, on Netflix. Thought it’s a great film so far, I doubt I can stay up for another two hours to finish it. Strangely, I paused the film and can now only see Martin Freeman’s hobbit feet and I keep thinking of him as Watson.

Review

The review today will be Salem’s Lot by Stephen King.

I liked this book, more than I thought I would. It actually has vampires that want to kill you and need blood to survive, instead of the abysmal books that somehow continue to get published today. The book has a great group of characters what hold and demand your attention. As with most Stephen King books, the writing style is accomplished and entertaining.

My rating for this book is 4.5 out of 5.

My Writing Update

I am incredibly pleased that since my last blog a few months ago I have finish the novel I was working on and am currently 47,000 words into my third novel. In fact since the last blog I have written over 100,000 words.

Coming Soon

My review of The Expats by Chris Pavone.

Thanks for reading, come back soon.

Back Again

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve been busy revising and taking exams. I am nearly halfway through “A Feast For Crows” which is the fourth instalment of the A Song of Ice and Fire. The review for this book will be coming in my next post, it won’t contain any spoilers.

The Immortalists by Kyle Mills

This book follows the lives of a married couple and their daughter who suffers from Progeria, which is a genetic disease in children that is characterised by premature old age. The book follows the characters living their relatively normal lives until two scientists are killed. Both seemed to be working on something secret which someone wants to keep secret. Will they find out the secret? Will they save their daughter?
One a scale of one to five I would have this book a three-point five. Overall I found the plot and character development was mediocre and it quotes “The Wizard of Oz”, which is never a good thing.

Thank you for reading.

English Examination

I am writing this and watching Game of Thrones. I won’t bore you with the details of my writing today, as I haven’t done it. I leave a gap from eleven to twelve to squeeze in my six hundred a day. Despite my busy day in college I had both of my English GCSE examinations today, they consist of letters, speeches and comprehensions. Hopefully I’ll get a C-grade, but I’ll find out on the 22nd of August.

Bag of Bones by Stephen King

As a fan of Stephen King’s work, I began reading this book with the hope it would live up to the expectations I have assigned to his work.
Bag of Bones is the tale of Michael Noonan (weird surname) and the strange goings on at his beach house called “Sara Laughs”. I was not expecting the paternal strand which seems to weave its way through this book, also I didn’t expect the sense of intrigue surrounding the house and its surrounding.
On a scale of one to five I would give this book a three-point nine. The concept and the writing were excellent even thought the ending was a bit weak.

Productive Day?

So here I am, writing this blog on one half of the laptop and catching up on The Walking Dead on the other. A productive day you might think.

My second novel, of which there are 25,000 words hasn’t been worked on in over a month, this stops today. I find that reading novels similar to yours can give you the extra push needed to spill your imagination on paper.

I am currently reading Stephen King’s Bag of Bones. The book is almost 70% complete, to be honest, it’s not his best. For me his best is Misery.

Supposedly everyone has a book in them. We are the only ones chasing that dream. Aspiring Authors.

I am currently writing a novel, with one already completed. I know a lot of you are thinking about or currently writing a novel too. If you are interested in reading about an aspiring author trying to get published, please come back soon
In addition to this I will also be writing small reviews of books I have recently read.
